RCS message Vs iMessage

RCS messaging is the Android equivalent of Apple’s iMessage. iMessage brought rich features like stickers and group chat but are still sent over the internet rather than the mobile networks.

RCS aims to provide similar feature rich capabilities and more complex interactions such as reschedule deliveries and order train tickets, but will use the network provider to do so. This means that RCS messaging will not use mobile data.

If you want to send an RCS message but the recipient does not have an Android device, they will still be able to receive an enhanced message in the form of an SMS landing page. Those on an Android handset will receive an RCS message, while our intelligent fall-back system will send none-android devices the alternative message.
