What is RCS messaging?

Rich Communication Services (RCS) is the technological next step up from SMS. RCS offers greater functionality, allowing businesses to send more detailed and engaging content. Businesses will be able to engage in more interactive conversations with their customer directly from their smartphones default messaging app.

As RCS messaging will use the default messaging application on Android devices, customers have no need to download a specific messaging app in order to receive an RCS.

Businesses can use RCS to send app-like content such as maps and directions to calendar invites and appointment schedulers, all the while presenting authenticity with customer branding and verified sender.
